Collaboration improves when the product record carries the decision, not when the team creates another place to talk.

Fashion product development crosses several specialist teams. Each sees a different part of the product, but suppliers and production still need one current answer.

Give every handoff an object

Attach discussion to the style, material, sample, cost or task it concerns. A message without product context becomes hard to find and harder to trust later.

Separate discussion from approval

Teams need space to challenge a decision. Once the owner approves the answer, bring it into the current record and mark the discussion resolved.

Control what suppliers see

Suppliers need the current specification, request, due date and decision history relevant to their work. Internal debate, commercial alternatives and unrelated products can remain private.

Make ownership visible

Every open item should show one accountable owner and a useful date. Shared responsibility often leaves suppliers waiting for a consolidated answer.

Measure the health of the handoff

Look at overdue decisions, corrected releases, sample rounds without a clear outcome and time spent preparing status. Message volume does not show whether collaboration works.

The aim is a product history another person can understand without interviewing everyone who touched it.
